North York Moors gamekeepers raise £1,920 for veterans
A team of North Yorkshire gamekeepers has raised nearly £2,000 to support a veterans’ charity.
The North York Moors Moorland Organisation (NYMMO) donated £1,920 to the Friends of Morgan House, which helps former service personnel in the region.
Morgan House, run by Healthier Heroes CIC, is named after Royal Marine Sam Morgan, who tragically took his own life.
The funds will support the centre’s new “Fire and Ice” project.
A NYMMO spokesperson said: "We are incredibly proud to hand over this cheque to Morgan House.
"The HPR days on the moors brought the gamekeeping and sporting community together for a cause that really matters, and to see that effort translate into direct support for veterans in our area means an enormous amount to all of us at NYMMO."
The money was raised through HPR experience days hosted on the North York Moors earlier this year, with the support of NYMMO gamekeepers.
Sponsors included Skinner’s Field and Trial, Marsdens Game Feeds, Fortis Clothing, Red Dog Company, Sporting Saint, Upper Helmsley Sporting and Brocklehursts.
The donation highlights the charity work taking place within the upland management and rural sporting communities.
Morgan House provides a place of support for veterans across the region.
